Infant Room

The Infant Room has been set up to care for children who are aged from 6 weeks to 16 - 18 months, dependent on the child's development. The staff ratio is 1:4.

Philosophy: We aim to provide an environment that is warm, caring and nurturing, where an infant can develop trust in themselves and others. We believe in actively encouraging the infant to use his/her senses of touch, sight, sound and smell to gain information of his/her world and the people in it. We believe that without secure attachments children do not learn. An individual's early experiences and interactions with their special adults create patterns of behaviour and expectations for others throughout childhood; they shape the child's personality.

Communication: We use a wide range of methods to communicate with our parents, including our communication boards in the room, daily notes, newsletters, children's portfolios and verbal conversations especially at drop off and pick up times.

Junior Room

The Junior Room has been set up to care for children who are aged from 16 - 18 months to 2.5 years, dependent on the child's development. The staff ratio is 1:5.

Philosophy: In keeping with the centre's philosophy, we believe that developing supportive, trusting relationships between families, children and educators is of vital importance and this is reflected in the way the Junior Room operates. Play is crucial to children's early learning and the children are encouraged to make choices regarding their play and the the materials they wish to use in order to pursue their interests.

Communication: We use a wide range of methods to communicate with our parents, including our communication boards in the room, individual communication books for children, newsletters, children's portfolios and verbal conversations.

Kinder Room

The Kinder Room has been set up to care for children who are aged from 2.5 years to 3.5 years, dependent on the child's development. The staff ratio is 1:8.

Philosophy: In keeping with the centre's philosophy, we aim to encourage children to reflect and recognise their own individual feelings within a variety of settings and to create an environment which can nurture the total wellbeing of the child. We encourage children to explore many areas of creativity and aesthetic awareness through the use of a variety of sensory creative materials and cultural musical equipment. We will encourage the development of these areas through the use of programs based on the needs and interests of the children.

Communication: We use a wide range of methods to communicate with parents, including our communication boards in the room, newsletters, children's portfolios and verbal conversations throughout the day.

Pre-School Room

The Pre-School Room has been set up to care for children who are aged from 3.5 to 5 years, dependent on the child's development. The staff ratio is 1:10.

We offer before and after kindy care and lunch care for the children who attend Happy Valley Kindergarten.

Philosophy: We believe that above all, this is a place for children - it is their space and therefore they should have a voice in how it should be. We value the children's ability to make decisions that affect them and others around them, so we aim to include children in the decision making process and to listen to what they have to say.

Communication: We use a wide range of methods to communicate with our parents, including our communication boards in the room, newsletters, children's portfolios and verbal conversations throughout the day. Our close working relationship with Happy Valley Kindergarten allows us to communicate important information regarding your child at the beginning and end of each kindy session and relay this information to our families.
